Minister responsible for Infrastructure is elated that the Monze Niko road in southern Province has been redesigned and constructed into a climate resilient road.
Hon. Eng. Charles L. Milupi, MP who is accompanied by the Road Development Agency Board Chairperson Eng. Eugene Haazele on an inspection tour of selected roads in Southern Province expressed satisfaction at the 40 km so far constructed by China Geo Engineering corporation.
The Minister was happy that the low-lying areas of the 71 km road which gets flooded has been redesigned and constructed into a climate resilient road.
Meanwhile the Consulting Engineer from Kaplum Associate Eng Robby Ngulube informed the Minister that all small, piped calverts have been replaced with bigger bridges to avoid flooding and damage to the road infrastructure.
He further said the road drainage have also been constructed to protect the road.
The construction of the Monze Niko road at a cost of k937 million, started in Nov. 2023 and is expected to be completed in November 2025 by China Geo Engineering corporation in a joint venture with Chipangano Builders.
As of 15th August 2025, the road is at 75 percent completion.
