Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Eng. Charles Lubasi Milupi, has reaffirmed President Hakainde Hichilema’s tireless effort to stabilize and grow Zambia’s economy, turning vision into tangible results across all sectors of government.
‎Speaking during a courtesy call on Southern Province Minister, Hon. Credo Nanjuwa, Hon. Milupi emphasized that President Hichilema is rebuilding the economy every day through coordinated efforts of all ministries and government departments.
‎“The role of each ministry is not just to carry out projects but to build the economy. Everyone must align with the vision of Hakainde Hichilema within their portfolio to contribute to national growth, Hon. Milupi stated.
‎He further highlighted that when the New Dawn government assumed office, Zambia was in recession, with GDP standing at 18 billion dollars. Within just two and a half years, the figure has grown to 30 billion dollars. However, we remain focused on further progress, with a bold target of doubling GDP to 60 billion dollars within five years.
‎Hon. Milupi clarified that the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development’s mandate goes beyond constructing roads, houses or urban facilities. Instead, its ultimate responsibility is to stimulate economic growth by ensuring infrastructure projects contribute directly to Zambia’s broader economic transformation.
‎Southern Province Minister, Hon. Credo Nanjuwa, commended Hon. Milupi for delivering on long-neglected projects, such as the long-awaited Chikankata Road upgrade.
