The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with KPMM Roads and Earthworks (Pty) Ltd for the construction of the Luansobe-Mpongwe-Machiya-Ngabwe road and 20km urban roads in Mpongwe and Ngabwe districts.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Eng. The project, estimated at US$ 383,366,781.35, will be implemented over a concession period of 25 years, with 3 years for construction and 22 years for maintenance.
Engineer Milupi added, “The New Dawn Government under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema will continue to prioritise infrastructure development countrywide as a vehicle to accelerate economic development. This shall however, be done at the right price, prescribed quality and delivered on time.”
The project will improve access to markets, reduce travel time, and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, opening up new economic opportunities for communities in Mpongwe, Machiya, and Ngabwe.
