Our Services

The ministry has Seven (7) Directorates namely :

  1. Department of Human Resources and Administration;
  2. Department of Public Infrastructure;
  3. Department of Planning, Monitoring and Research;
  4. Department of Housing Development;
  5. Department of Finance;
  6. Department of Preventive Maintenance and Service; and
  7. Department of Government Valuation

 

 1. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE (DPI)

This department is responsible for facilitating the design and construction of all public infrastructure except roads,  in order to ensure adherence to set standards and contribute to socio economic development. It offers the following services :

  • Architectural
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Engineering (Water, Structural, Electrical and Drainage)
  • The above includes contract administration, construction management and Supervision of both contractors and consultants on government construction projects

 2. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

The Department of Housing Development is responsible for facilitating public and social housing development in order to secure housing ownership for nationals. The department also maintain housing stock database.  

This department offers the following services below:

  • Urban and rural housing
  • Upgrading of informal and unplanned settlements
  • Social housing
  • Planning of Housing units

3. DEPARTMENT OF PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICES

 The Maintenance Services Department is responsible for facilitating the maintenance and management of public      buildings in order to prolong serviceability and their life span. 

4. GOVERNMENT VALUATION DEPARTMENT 

 The Government Valuation Department is responsible for providing valuation and property consultancy services to   Government departments in order to ensure value for money. The Department assists Local Authorities improve revenue mobilisation through the national rating programme, in line with the sixth component of the Decentralisation Implementation Plan (DIP). The Department will also facilitate capacity development in Local Authorities to effectively administer property rates in line with the third component of the DIP.  

5. DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATION 

The Department of Human Resources and Administration is responsible for the management and development of human resources in order to improve performance. It also provides administrative and logistical support in order to facilitate the effective operations of the Ministry. 

6. DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, MONITORING AND RESEARCH

The Department shall be responsible for coordinating, formulating and reviewing Ministerial policies and legislation in order to provide a framework for effective implementation of programmes and projects. The Department is also responsible for effectively and efficiently monitoring and evaluating the implementation of programmes by all the Departments in order to ensure realisation of set goals and targets.

7. DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE 

The Finance Department is responsible for managing the financial resources of the Ministry in order to facilitate implementation of programmes. 

The Ministry also has the following units:

 

i.          Internal Audit ;

ii.         Procurement Unit;

iii.        Legal Unit; and the 

iv.        Public Relations Unit 

All these units fall under the Department of Human Resources and Administration.

Road Development Agency

The Road Development Agency offers the following e-services:

  • Online application of abnormal load permits
  • Online tendering of projects
National Council for Construction

The National Council offers the following e-services:

  • Registration of contractors and regulation of the construction industry
  • Promote research in construction
  • Conduct and co-ordinate training programmes
  • Monitoring and inspection
  • Enforcing regulation and construction standards

National Housing Authority

The National Housing Authority provides the following services:

  •  Provision of housing units
  • Construction of public houses
  • Design and construction of social housing units
