The mandate of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development is to superintend over
the designing, procurement, construction, maintenance and management of public infrastructure to
improve planning, coordination, standardisation, quality and efficiency of infrastructure development
in the country. With the Government Gazette Notice No 1123 of 2021, the function of Maritime was
taken to the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, while on the other hand, the mandate was expanded
to include Urban Development, Preventive Maintenance as well as Government Valuation and
Management of Public Assets which were not in the previous Ministry.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development, in collaboration with the National Housing Authority and Ongos Valley Development (PTY) Ltd of Namibia, is launching a housing project in the Lusaka South Multifacility Economic Zone.
Project Highlights:
-A total of 10,000 housing units will be constructed at Lusaka South MFEZ ,with the first 2000 housing to be constructed beginning June 2025,catering to low, medium, and high-cost categories.
- Units will be available for purchase or rent-to-buy options, including mortgage and installment payment plans.
